I love this time of the year, getting out of the house and enjoying the warm sun. It is energising; the foods are colourful and taste beautiful and sweet. This is the time of the year I look forward too. After coming out of winter and unpredictable spring. This time of the year you know that having a BBQ will work out and hanging our in nature is wonderful. I can write this now with ease as I have figured out how to manage my allergies.
Before this, I had this love-hate relationship with summer. You know that feeling that you are looking forward hanging ours together at the park. Get your portable BBQ ready, salad recipes are being exchanged, and you all are so excited to meet up after a week of work, family and all that during the week jazz. Then you arrive at the park; you get settled in, get picknick blanket organised. The first sip of sweet wine and your eye first get dry, then start to itch. People wonder if you are upset and the only thing that kicks in is your allergies. Bummer! Of course, you try to work thru it, but when the sneezing shows up, you know it is time to go home.
What I have learned over the years is, this is not something that is fixed at the moment. You need to take care of your allergies the whole period that they are active. So at home, you have to make sure you are taking care of your sensitive nose and eyes. Creating a calming down place, a haven so to speak. So that at least during the time you are home, you make sure that your nose and eyes are calm and not over sensitised. Make sure your house is clean and dust free, especially your bedroom. Make time to change the linen every week and most importantly ensure that the air is calming your senses.
For me, this means calming showers before the day start and at the end of the day. Also in the house, I have my diffuser to make sure the air is taking care of me and my body. Plenty of water and rest are critical. As overly sensitivity needs a place to calm down. That way you are ready for whatever summer has planned for you outside.
