If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. #MayaAngelou

The big buzz word these days “CHANGE”. It seems that everything will be better with change. To be honest, this is not always the case. Change can bring a lot of uncomfortableness with it as well. Even if this does leads to something better. What is better for one person, doesn’t mean it is better for another person. We all know that it is also very comfortable to stay exactly where we are. Yes, even if this is not really what we are looking for at this moment. Knowing what is coming next or enjoying the comfort zone that you have reached for now. If you ask me, it is all about the choices we make.
For horses, this is not the case. They don’t always have a say in their situation. To be honest, most horses would love to eat and run around in the free nature. My experience is that horses try to make the best out of any situation. Even if it means switching off completely and just go on with the daily activities. To be honest, this is not always a beautiful picture. It is a good mirror for all of us humans thou because most of us do the same thing on a daily basis as well.
I would like to share with you this beautiful story of a horse. This horse has been a fellow that is a great healthy horse and a fantastic jumper. He ended up as a young horse in an environment where they worked him hard and took good care of him. With proper care I mean, he had his food, turn out and was kept clean. In return, he worked hard and behaved well. At one point the owner came to the conclusion that it was time to move on to a different horse and was ready to sell him.
This horse was getting his changing point; he was lucky and was bought by a new rider and owner. To be honest, he was purchased by a family, a big family. Here comes the change. He was still taken care of really well. He had his food, his turn out time and training. The important difference is, this owner added one essential ingredient to the mix, love. This lucky horse got all the praises for his work; they checked if he was eating his food if his feet looked okay. He was introduced to different kind of coaching and some free time just to run around in an arena. He even got a massage, people trying to figure out how to make it better for him. To the point, it got confusing for him sometimes. It seriously took time for him to get used to these cuddles, all these carrots, apples and other treats. He would wait every day to check if this would happen again. Of course, it did.
The change that happens is as simple as a new ingredient added to the mix all the activities done with lots and lots of love. Coming from a person with a big heart. This horse has changed with his whole being. Yes, he is still that beautiful kind horse that works hard and will always show up as the best of his abilities. He also has gained weight, muscles, awareness.
Just by looking at this great horse, his owner and the change that happened to him and the whole family. I am wondering, maybe it is not the change we are looking for but the passion. The love ingredient to add to our day. To be more aware of what is already around us and if we are willing to show up with our heart to the situation. Who knows change is not necessary, just because it is all there already.
